Kauai Activities

Whether it’s your first time visiting Kauai or if you’re a seasoned veteran, there are always new ways to experience and explore the Garden Isle. Here’s our top 5 things to do in Kauai in 2023:

#5 - Take a Snap of Legendary Spouting Horn

Spouting Horn Kauai

Spouting Horn is one of Kauai’s most popular natural attractions. Spouting Horn is a blowhole spout caused by a hole in the lava shelf. Ocean water rushes underneath the shelf at a force and sends water through the hole. Depending on water conditions and tide, the water can shoot up as high as 50 feet in the air! You can view Spouting Horn from Spouting Horn Beach Park.

The legend of Spouting Horn is that a giant mo’o (lizard) named Kaikapu guarded the coast from anyone, making it impossible to fish or swim near the area. Liko, a young boy, swam into the ocean where Kaikapu followed and attacked the mo’o with a spear. Liko was able to escape through the hole, however, Kaikapu became stuck and to this day, you can hear the lizard’s roar and see her breath spraying through the blowhole.

The Waimea Canyon State Park has something for everyone – lookouts of the canyon, scenic drive, hikes at various skill levels, and more. It is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” with its deep gorges and dramatic scenery.
