Find Your Adventure

If you are looking for a little assistance in finding some fun and adventure on our island, then check out some reviews from our very own staff members on what they like to do in their spare time!

Cindy:

My favorite beach is probably Mahaulepu, but I really enjoy hiking on the Wai Koa loop, Kilauea, and the Mahaulepu Heritage Trail. As far as places to eat, I really love Char Onoburgers in Anahola, and Brick Oven Pizza in Kalaheo!

Aimee:

I love to drive out towards Waimea Canyon up to Kokee Lodge, and feed the chickens with my daughter in the park. The lodge store sells chicken feed, and also has a restaurant, so it’s a great place for lunch. In the wintertime, I love to go down to Poipu Beach to watch the Humpback Whales swim by.

If you are in the Puhi area, across the street from the college, I highly recommend that you check out Aloha Aina Juice Café, as they have the best Acai Bowl on the island by far!

Mariza:

I absolutely love hiking! My favorite spot to go to on the Island is Waipoo Falls in Kokee. I typically like to hike up there with my friends, and then we’ll have a nice picnic lunch, followed by swimming in the river.

My favorite restaurant on the island is Stevenson’s Library, where you can find some of the best sushi that you have ever eaten!

Seannie:

My favorite thing to do on the island is to explore the many beautiful beaches that we have, particularly the North Shore in Ke’e, Tunnels, and Hanalei. There are many great restaurants in Hanalei, so you can definitely make an entire day out of it!

After work, I always love to go to Kalapaki Joes and hang out. Great food with ocean views, and I enjoy watching the many different sporting events on TV with my friends and family.

Rob:

My favorite spot on the island is probably Kokee State Park, where you can get some incredible views of Waimea Canyon, as well as the Napali Coast. I also love spending time in Hanapepe for the Friday Art Night, the tropical rainforests of Hanalei on the North Shore, and Old Koloa Town, where my wife and I love to walk around and check out some of the of the many different shops with their unique Hawaiian items.

My favorite place to eat on the island is Pizzetta in Old Koloa Town, where their chicken marsala is second only to some of the places I’ve ate at in Little Italy, New York City. I also love the Kobe Hamburger Steak at Kalapaki Joes, and the Kauai Island Brewery and Grill in Port Allen, where the Captain Cook’s IPA and the pool tables/arcade upstairs are a great combination for a Saturday night.

Marlene:

By far, my favorite thing to do on the island is go zip lining! I love the rush while you zip through the jungles at what seems like incredibly fast speeds. My two favorites are Outfitters Kauai, and Koloa Zipline. I also love tubing, and had a great experience going through the canals of an old sugar plantation with Kauai Backcountry Adventures.

Whenever I can, I love to go to the Beach House Restaurant, and enjoy the high class food, as well as the beautiful ocean views on Lawai Beach.

Lei:

In living so close to Poipu Beach Park, I would say my favorite thing to do is to go down and relax in one of the pavilions, and enjoy the breezy trade winds, as well as the gorgeous blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The pavilions on the park are great for family functions or any type of get together, and are typically free, unless you have a large function, in which you will have to obtain a permit. They have grills for a BBQ, and ample seating with picnic tables, if you are looking for a nice way to spend a day relaxing by one of our beautiful beaches.

My favorite food on the island is a prime rib dinner from The Bull Shed Restaurant in Kapaa. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area!
