Kahala 521 was a great spot to stay at in Kauai within the Poipu Kai development. Lots of access to pools, the beach and the athletic club, all of which we made good use of. The place was a very spacious one bedroom with all the amenities-fully stocked kitchen, all appliances, great living space. The only thing to get used to at the beginning was the sound from Poipu Road which is right out front of the suite which just took the first day. The staff were incredibly responsive and helpful and even gave us a late checkout which changed our last day entirely since we had a late flight. They were incredibly gracious and generous. I would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed in 521 for four nights over New Year's, Dec 2014 to Jan 2015. I planned our island hopping trip in November, so was quite lucky to grab this place last minute. Having read a so-so review, I was apprehensive, but the unit turned out to be nicer than expected. Carpeting was brand new. The mattress was comfortable so apparently, it was replaced since the bad review came out. The noise from Poipu Rd. is a bit of a nuisance, but traffic sparse especially after 9 pm. We both slept well until the roosters started at dawn. During our stay, nights were cool enough to allow closing some of the windows. FWIW, the louvered windows often used in mild climates like Kauai's don't block as much noise as double hung or casement windows. Windows open or closed, you do hear an occasional loud pick-up or jeep go by. This unit does not have AC, so that may be something to consider for summer bookings. However, there are ceiling fans in every room, including the bathroom, and the ceilings are high and that should help keep the place a little cooler than otherwise.The unit was tastefully decorated, the kitchen well appointed, internet fast enough, bathroom decent and the staff cordial. Grounds are well maintained and the surrounding developments equally nice. We ran out of time to try the pool or the tennis courts. Also, there's lots of space to spread out - not pictured is a long row of cabinets in the hallway with a useful 'counter top' around 12 feet long. Above all, the location was perfect for us as we balanced our time between exploring the island, excursions, and laying out on the nearby beaches. More so than other parts of the island we visited, Poipu has a resort feel. The New Year's gathering and fireworks show in Poipu Beach was a pleasant surprise. We wish we could have stayed longer, but Maui beckoned.

The condo was terrific. Very spacious, wonderful high pitched ceilings with two large decks. Great updated kitchen with everything you need. The layout is perfect, the bedroom is at the other end of the living area. Walking distance to the beach. Spacious well manicured grounds. 8 Tennis courts/club very well run for a minimal fee. Pretty much a "smoke free" complex which is great. Restaurant on site. The one downfall of this unit is that it is one of the closest to the street so you will get street noise. We closed the bedroom windows at night and for the most part there is no traffic from 1130 pm to 6 am. (I overlooked the traffic considering the good price) All in all I would recommend this complex

Loved the condo, with no air conditioning (which was OK also, very comfortable with fans) I can't think of any other thing that was a negative. The condo had everything a person would need (even beach toys)and was decorated very pretty and entertaining. The grounds are very beautiful and make walking to the beach worth every step.

We had a great vacation in Kauai and our condo contributed to that. We appreciated the pool/whirlpool on the property, the comfort of the condo, beach chairs provided, and that we could walk to the beach. The condo was so reasonably close to shopping and other attractions.
