Once the summer cottage of Queen Emma, wife of King Kamehameha IV, the Allerton Estate features stunning grounds in a beautiful tropical valley. On the north shore of Kauai, the National Tropical Botanical Gardens maintains a garden site featuring information about Kauai's history, culture and tropical plant life.

Kauai Backcountry Adventures – offers tube rides down the Lihue Plantation irrigation ditch and tunnel system. This irrigation system, which once irrigated sugar cane fields, runs through some of the most beautiful lands on the island of Kauai with spectacular views of the ocean, coastline and valleys.

Na Pali Coast Tours

Birds in Paradise – featured on ESPN and many other local and national television shows, this famous powered hangliding school has provided hangliding lessons since 1991. Choose from 25 - 90 minute sessions.

Scuba Diving
Mana Divers – offering extensive marine education through open ocean dives and enclosed salt-water lagoon tours at the Hyatt Regency in Poipu, Kauai and at the state’s largest swimming pool at the Kauai Marriott Resort in Nawiliwili, Kauai’s East shore.

Seasport Divers – with over 26 different dive sites on Kauai to choose from, Seasport Divers can accommodate a broad range of scuba diving enthusiasts -- from beginners to advance. Even first time divers are welcome.

 

SIGHTS

Stargazing
Kauai Educational Association for Science and Astronomy (KEASA) – created for amateur astronomers, this organization offers monthly stargazing “starwatches” on the closest Saturday to the new moon.

Tropical Gardens
National Tropical Botanical Garden, "Allerton Gardens" – the official web site featuring Allerton Gardens, a beautiful masterpiece of garden art. Reserve tours online.

 

RESTAURANTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

There are numerous restaurants, in the Poipu Beach area and throughout Kauai ranging from local, ethnic, seafood, family, and fine dining restaurants. Since restaurants change frequently, a good source for finding up-to-date restaurant info is Kauai Menu Magazine or other tourist publications available free at our Guest Reception and many places in Kauai, consequently we are not listing restaurants here except for those shown below.

Hanapepe Cafe located right in the middle of Historic Hanapepe Town has received awards and excellent reviews.  Friday brings the festive air of Art Night to Hanapepe, with its many galleries open for pleasant browsing.  Island musicians and working artists add to the nighttime charm of this quaint town. Reservations are recommended at on Friday evenings.

Slack Key Guitarist Cindy Combs – an accomplished and well known slack key guitarist and singer, Cindy Combs' slack key styling can often be heard at the Hanapepe Cafe. 

Tradewinds, A South Seas Bar – an open atmosphere, Hawaiian style bar with nightly music, karaoke, and games. Serving excellent drinks, food from restaurants located throughout the Marketplace, as well as quality Hawaiian logo T-shirts. Located in Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa, Kauai.
